A1. Back squat – 5 reps each at 60 and 70%, and 2×5@75%.
A2. Front squat – 5 reps each 65, 70, 75%.
B. 3 rounds, for time:
3 lengths (1.5 laps) sled pull (facing forward)
3 lengths (1.5 laps) sled pull (facing backwards, with the row)
2 laps of overhead walking lunges with a plate (45/25 pounds).
The weight on the sled should be such that you can pretty much keep moving continuously. This may well be less than you had on the sled a few weeks back. If you’re hiding behind your couch because you read the word “sled”, it’s okay. You can come out now.
Here are the results of the skills competition yesterday. I haven’t tallied up the highest scores in each event, but we did have some impressive results, with even a few PRs sprinkled in there. Sorry about the reflection of the lights.
Thank goodness.
Wow, good job everybody!
Very glad this one is done and I don’t have to look forward to/dread it Friday. Was a tough day all around.
A. Done, using 235/185. Failed on my 2nd rep at 70% back squats. I don’t know what happened. Then accidentally used an extra 20# on the first set of front squats. Seriously a messed up day. Luckily I came back from both of those foul-ups and got it done. Notice my use of the term foul-up. It probably won’t happen again :).
B. 17 something. That’s all I can say without getting all derogatory. Used 70# on the sled.
Mara, you did just fine. You pulled/pushed/lunged some heavy weights and survived.
I know I haven’t posted on here for a while, but that’s mostly because I’ve just been slowly working back into some intensity and some weight.
A1. Back squat – worked up to a set of 5 at 195, which is up 20 lbs from a week and a half ago. It’s frustrating at some level to have what was previously my 60% feel like 80%, but that’s where I’m at right now.
A2. 3×8 @ 135.
B. Some people aren’t going to like what I’m about to say… but I kind of liked this one. My shoulders may beg to differ in 24 hours, but it was kind of fun. 14:38 with 90 lbs on the sled. I jumped in with Dana and Evan for this one in the last class of the day.
